Fr. Stinissen's book will pour peace into your souls. It provides a series of excellent meditations on the will of God in our daily lives. He helps the reader to see that everything that happens in our lives is contained within God's plan, even the things that seem the most painful.
At first, many of us might cringe at the very thought that our personal suffering or that of other's can have any use whatsoever. Nonetheless, Fr. Stinissen insists that "nothing falls outside of God's plan". Drawing upon Sacred Scripture and insights from some of the great saints, he even goes on to state that "God makes use of evil in such a superb way and with such skill that the result is better than if there had never been evil".
Why? Because God allows everything for our spiritual growth. When faced with a crisis, we often think to ourselves "this can't be God's will...it can't be". We have a difficult time accepting our fate "when we do not know God is behind it". Yet, "it is through this very fate that he was and is real in our lives". Fr. Stinissen reminds us that "there is not a single moment when God is not communicating himself to us". Powerful words that should give us much food for prayer and meditation.
E. H. McLellan is a very wise woman who knows how to convey important truths about how to learn and practice the art of authentic love. This excellent book is Dr. Eric Fromm's "The Art of Loving" meets E.B. White's "Charlotte's Web". Every parent and child should read this book. In fact, this should be required reading for our Catholic elementary schools. Until then, you should at least get yourself a copy and spend time learning the hidden meaning behind the mysterious mnemonic "A Loving Touch Profits Every Creature At Some Centre Point". It sounds weird but it isn't once you actually read the book. It is only when the young protagonist is able to uncover the hidden meaning of the mnemonic is she then able to learn the secret to inner peace and real love.
