We would like to thank everyone from Faith Formation who contributed to this month's food and diaper drive. We received $630.00 in cash and lots of food and clothing. All the money was spent on buying food for the babies and their teen moms. God bless you for your generosity!
Thousands gathered yesterday afternoon at Queen's Park for a peaceful protest asking the Canadian government to provide more concrete help to Iraqi Christians and other religious minorities that are being brutally killed and tortured in Iraq by truly evil members of ISIS. All of us are called to pray and provide concrete financial assistance to the thousands upon thousands of Iraqi people who are without food, water and shelter. We pray that the world leaders will act boldly to end this terrible tragedy. Our own Archbishop, Thomas Cardinal Collins also urged Canadian Muslim leaders to publicly denounce these horrors. Until now, they have remained silent.
ISIS is leaving this symbol on the bodies of all the Iraqi Christians they are murdering. It stands for 'Nazarenes', a pejorative term for Christians.
Violence towards Iraqi Christians is escalating yet most of the Western world remains silent. We are called to pray intensely for the Body of Christ that is suffering great persecution. We can also provide food and healthcare by donating directly to www.cnewa.com. They are a papal agency that provides humanitarian and pastoral support to Iraq and several other parts of the Middle East.
